7. When is your Open House?
We host an Open House usually in March. However, personal tours are always available. If you would rather have a personalized tour, please call or email!
8. What is your discipline policy?
- We use a POSITIVE reinforcement technique.
The disruptive student(s) will be dealt with like any other situation, first we will try to redirect the student(s) and encouraging good decision making. If this is not successful, the student(s) will be asked to take some time to think about their choices (a “Thinking Break”) Thinking Breaks are not scheduled by time, but instead based off of the child’s emotional levels. Once the student(s) have calmed down and are able to try to communicate their problems, we will then try help them solve the problems. If this doesn’t correct the problems, we will inform the parents at the time of pick-up, and/or a note/email. The parent will have the opportunity to speak with the teacher at this time to discuss solutions or issues. Hopefully this would solve the problem. If not, further discussions with parents, Ms. Melissa and/or Ms. Kim, will need to take place. Academic Gardens does NOT & will NEVER use “corporal punishment” as a form of discipline.
